Scheppach

The widest range on this site, and the most willing to publish a number

Scheppach appears more often on this site than any other maker, and not because we set out to favour it. It simply occupies the part of the market this site is about: stationary machines a home workshop can afford, sold across Europe under a single reference.

What we noticed writing the reviews

It publishes numbers. The HS105 table saw states its cut height, its bevel range and its table dimensions with the extension out. The BTS800 sander states its belt as 915 × 100 mm and its disc as 150 mm — the two figures that decide what abrasive you will buy for the next decade. Several machines here costing twice as much publish none of that.

That is worth something concrete: a specification a manufacturer prints is one you can hold it to, and one we can write about honestly.

The pricing is not uniform. The HMS850 planer runs from €240 in Germany to €329 in Spain, and €836 on amazon.com — the last being an import listing rather than local distribution. Check your own market.

Where it sits

Entry to mid. The machines are honest rather than refined: straight knives rather than helical heads, pressed steel rather than cast iron, fences that work rather than fences that delight. For a first workshop that is usually the right trade, and the money saved buys the blade that matters more.

Every Scheppach product we have reviewed

  • Scheppach HD12

    550 W · 1 150 m³/h · 75 L · Ø 100 mm hose

A €169 chip extractor that moves 1 150 cubic metres an hour — and publishes nothing at all about what it filters.

Best for: Feeding a planer, a bandsaw or a table saw in a single-machine workshop

    ≈ $635 / 170 €

  • Scheppach HS105

    255 mm · 2 000 W · with stand

A full-size blade, a stand and a 640 × 920 mm table for the price of a compact site saw — the most machine per euro on this page, with the compromises that implies.

Best for: A garage or a shed where the saw stays put and space, not portability, is the constraint

    ≈ 230 €
